Harold Summarizes his 2009 Season
The 2009 season was a great year for me. I finished second in the Pro class at the ATVA Extreme Dirt Track Nationals and won the Pro Lites class for the third year in a row. I also finished 11th in the AMA Pro ATV series.
In addition to the EDT and AMA Pro ATV Nationals, I have been competing on Wayne Matlock’s team in the Best in the Desert and SCORE series. We are currently leading the SCORE series with only the Baja 1000 left.
When I am not at the track I spend most of my time working on my race quads, testing, and training. It makes for a busy season for my Dad and I doing all the maintenance on the equipment. In 2009 we drove nearly 55,000 miles going to events.
This off season I will spend two months at Rage ATV in Texas training and preparing for next season. While I’m there I will be building the race quads and helping Dee Manshack, of Rage, hold riding camps where many up and coming riders from around the country will come and train.
I will also attend the Dealer Expo in Indianapolis where I will be displaying a race quad in the Houser Racing booth and hope to have a couple more in other booths.
In 2010, I will compete in the eleven AMA Pro ATV MX Nationals, thirteen GNCC events, and select EDT events. Also, I will be riding on Wayne Matlock’s team in the SCORE series races that don’t conflict with my regular scheduled events. Beyond that I will race two local events each off weekend. I also hope to race as many of the following as possible: AMA Pro ATV Open races run in conjunction with the AMA Motocross events, Montreal Supercross, Pont-de-Vaux, Baja 1000, and any other special events that may arise.
Besides racing, I hope to hold a few Extreme Dirt Track riding schools at various locations.
Throughout my career I have tried to be a positive part of the racing community. I take pride in the fact that I am well liked and respected. I hope this continues for many years to come.
